Code of Ethics

I. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall not violate the confidential relationship between themselves and their clients or former clients.

II. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall recognize the individual needs of each and every client.

III. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall provide aid and support to any other member to the best of their ability.

IV. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall endeavor to interest other tax professionals in the work of this Council.

V. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall maintain a level of continuing professional education that allows them to remain informed of the ever changing Federal and State tax laws.

VI. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall to the best of their ability apply these tax laws for the protection of their clients.

VII. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall never propose any unworthy person for membership nor because of personal enmity oppose the admission of any person otherwise qualified.

VIII. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall not seek to obtain clients by advertising or others forms of solicitation in a manner that is false, misleading or deceptive.

IX. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall be diligent and thorough in the preparation of any tax returns or other documents prepared by their firm.

X. MEMBERS of this COUNCIL

shall strive to be a credit to the South Carolina Tax Council by assisting others with their tax problems and shall never do anything to discredit the Council or any individual member.
